Ideal Considerations Before You Book
Not sure which training you need?
We can help you choose the right course before you register.
BLS is generally intended for healthcare professionals and clinical personnel. Heartsaver courses are commonly appropriate for teachers, childcare providers, coaches, fitness professionals, workplace employees, and others who need CPR, AED, or First Aid training.
What should I expect during training?
Expect hands-on practice—not just information on a screen. Depending on your course, you'll practice CPR, AED use, choking response, first aid, rescue skills, and emergency response techniques with instructor guidance.
Will my employer accept this course?
Course requirements vary by employer, school, or licensing program. If you were specifically told that you need AHA BLS, be sure to select a BLS course rather than a general CPR course. When in doubt, verify the exact requirement with your employer or school before registering.
What is the difference between the full course and a skills session?
Full instructor-led course is completed in person. A blended-learning skills session is the hands-on portion completed after the required online coursework. If you register for a skills session, complete the required online portion before your appointment.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for hands-on practice. For a blended-learning skills session, bring proof that you completed the required online coursework. Also bring any documentation specifically requested by your employer or program.
Why Immediate CPR MattersWhy Immediate Action Matters
More than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside the hospital each year in the United States. Overall survival is only about 9-10%, but when CPR is started right away, survival can double or triple. When cardiac arrest occurs, immediate recognition, activation of emergency services, high-quality CPR, and early AED use can make a critical difference.
Choking emergencies also require rapid action because a blocked airway can become life-threatening within minutes. CPR, AED, and First Aid training gives individuals the knowledge and hands-on skills to respond when every second matters.
9-10% overall survival for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest can happen anywhere—including workplaces, restaurants, churches, and other public settings. Survival can depend on whether the event is witnessed, CPR is started immediately, and an AED is available nearbyWomen's Outcomes and CPR DisparitiesSource: National Institutes of Health / PubMed Central
“Immediate CPR Can Double or Triple a Person’s Chance of Survival”.
When cardiac arrest occurs, every minute matters. Immediate bystander CPR helps maintain blood flow to the brain and other vital organs until an AED and emergency medical services are available. Early CPR, combined with rapid AED use, can significantly improve survival.

Research has found that women experiencing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in public settings may be less likely than men to receive bystander CPR. Increasing awareness, recognizing cardiac arrest quickly, and being prepared to act can help address disparities in emergency response.Let’s begin the conversation.
